Arthur C. Thurston, 92, of Medina, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015. He was born October 1, 1922, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to Charles and Frances Thurston. He grew up in Ashtabula and graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1940. After graduation, Art served in WWII with the U.S. Army, 302nd Infantry as a Mortar Gunner in Northern France and the Rhineland.
Art’s work career was in the graphic-arts industry in the Cleveland area. In 1957, he and his wife Jayne moved their family to Brunswick, Ohio. After retirement in 1983, he and his second wife Era moved to Medina. During his retirement, Art especially enjoyed his hobbies of reading, photography and calligraphy, along with his extensive travels within the U.S.
Art is survived by his son, Charles Paul Thurston of Yukon, Oklahoma, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Art was preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, O. Jayne Thurston (nee Chidester); second wife of 31 years, Era Robinson Thurston; daughter, Kathy Gibbs; sisters Jean (Ray) Daywalt and Dorothy “Dot” (Crawford) Jones.
