Bertha D. Bell

Bertha D. Bell was born January 17, 1936. She was 81 years old and she resided at Rockport Assistant Senior Living. She departed this life November 2, 2017 at 10:30 pm at Fairview Hospital. Preceding her in death: Husband: Ersa Bell, Sister: Josie Edgerson, Eloise Slater, Brother: Albert Green, Morris Green. Bertha was the fourth oldest of 7 children to Gus and Flora Green. Bertha was reared in Tuskegee, Alabama where she attended Lewis Adams, school.
Bertha migrated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1949 at the age of 13. She attended Cleveland public schools, and worked after school.
She met her childhood sweethearts and after courting she married Ersa Bell December 3, 1955. To this union 5 children were born, Genetha (Joe) Love, Ersa Bell Jr., Thomas Bell, Cynthia Bell and Ricky Bell. She was employed in the domestic field for many years. She believed in family values and also helped raise some of her grandchildren. All of the children in the neighborhood loved her and would call her Grandma. She especially loved the holidays when family would get together at her house for family meals, as she enjoyed cooking. The 4th of July was always the biggest one, because she loved to Barbeque. She will surely be missed!
Bertha is survived by: Children: Genetha (Joe) Love, Ersa Bell Jr., Thomas Bell, Cynthia Bell and Ricky Bell. Sister: Sally Bell, Beatrice Green. Sister-laws: Emily Davis, Leila Green, 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild, nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
