Captain Galhenage Rupadeva

Captain Galhenage Rupadeva “Rupa” (Retired Commander of Sri Lanka Navy), age 65 of Nugegoda, Sri Lanka passed away peacefully while residing in Parma Ohio on July 18th 2023. He is survived by his lifelong beloved wife of 38 years Sujeewa Dharmasena, their two children: Teluka Galhenage and Pamoda Galhenage and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. 

He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a brother, and a dear friend. He served in the Sri Lanka Navy for 20 year and retired as a commander in 1997. Since then, he continued to serve as a private ship captain in the merchant navy until 2019. Seafaring was his passion, he enjoyed traveling and having a great time with his family and friends. For him, his two children are his priceless possession, joy, and pride. 

Keeping in tradition with Buddhist customs, the family will host religious observances on Wednesday July 19th at their residence in Parma OH 44134 (2pm ET).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to one’s charity of choice in Rupadeva’s name.
