Diane Kreglow (née O’Dell), age 64, passed away at Cleveland Clinic on March 22nd, 2023. She is survived by her daughter Leanna of Seville OH, and son Matthew (Gianna) of Medina. She was preceded in death by her husband Jonathan in 2021, her parents Claire and Dewell “Don” O’Dell and her older brother Donald.
Diane graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1976, and The Ohio State University in 1980. She met Jon in Columbus and they were married in September 1980. They relocated many times as Jon’s career path required, living first in Raleigh NC, and then returning to Ohio in 1984 and residing in Lancaster and Athens before settling in Medina in 1987. During those years, Diane worked as a secretary at the NCSU Food Science Department in Raleigh, NC, and later in the Sports Information Department at OH in Athens OH. At other times she worked for various temp services.
Once their children were born (Leanna in 1989 and Matthew in 1991), Diane devoted her time to being mother and homemaker. She participated in several community activities over the years, volunteering her time as a Medina County District Library Bookmate (delivering library materials to homebound individuals), Cub Scout leader and committee member, and as a Heritage Elementary School volunteer for media center activities. She was a devoted caregiver, disabilities advocate and legal guardian for her daughter, and caregiver for her husband during his cancer illness.
Whenever she had time for hobbies Diane relaxed with jigsaw puzzles, backyard birdwatching and gardening, counted cross-stitch, and she enjoyed watching suspenseful movies as well as British TV dramas and mysteries.
According to Diane’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Quincy OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Society/Tisher Group Home (SHC-Medina.org), Hospice of the Western Reserve (HospiceWR.org), or to your favorite charity.
Leave a condolence
Oh goodness, just found the obituary on your Mom, Diana. We are so very sorry for your loss. She is with your Dad and we hope that gives you comfort and peace. We are so very sorry that this has happened.
Thinking of you, Matt, and Gianna and all you have been through. One day at a time, as your Dad would say, and time it will take with all you have had to cope with these past years.
Sending prayers and love.
Leanna and Matthew,
We are so sorry to hear this. Diane had a great sense of humor and great kindness. We will miss Christmas cards with family updates and her thoughtful and or uplifting notes she was so willing to share. Matthew, it is so evident that you took great care of both of your parents.
