Edward Hill Dandridge, 89, of Cleveland, OH, died Sunday, December 2, 2018. He was born February 20, 1929 in Bluefield, WV, the only son of Brooksie and Douglas Dandridge. A graduate of Elkhorn High School, where he wrote the school song, and West Virginia State University. He worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring as an Industrial Engineer. Through his work with the USPS, Edd was an integral member of the team that automated postal services globally.
In addition to engineering, Edd was passionate about electronics and technology, which led him to open Dandridge Sight and Sound after he retired, specializing in sound systems, home theatres and church media systems.
He was an avid member of Glenville Present Truth SDA Church in Cleveland. He also enjoyed updating and preserving the records of the Green Penn family, riding his motorcycles and sports car and being of assistance in every way that he could.
He is survived by four nieces Anita Williams Harris, Atlanta, GA; Barbara Williams Mayhan of Bowie, MD; Donna E. Oldham of Winston-Salem, NC, and Leslie (Michael) Winbush of Winston-Salem, NC; two great nephews, Steven Avery of Savannah, GA, and William Mayhan Jr., of Brandywine, MD, a great niece, Denise Avery of Atlanta, other great-great nieces and nephews, and a devoted friend, Opal Harrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents Douglas and Brooksie Dandridge, two sisters, Gladys Dandridge Oldham, and Lucille Dandridge Williams, a great nephew, Allen Mayhan, and his wife, Ann Catherine Dandridge.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Edward Hill Dandridge will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at noon, at Glenville Present Truth SDA Church, 737 East 105th Street, Cleveland, OH. A private burial will follow. The family visitation will be one half hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in memory of Edward Hill Dandridge to Glenville Present Truth SDA Church Building Fund.
