Gerald “Jerry” Zehe, 77, passed away October 23, 2014. Loving brother of Allen (Nancy), Betty Sawastuk (Jim) and the late Edna Carlile (Frank, deceased). Son of the late Joseph Zehe and Edna Zsiga.
Had a vivid dream about Uncle Jerry last night (early morning). Daytime. Sunshine. He drove up in a large vintage convertible (I didn’t register the make) and slowed to a stop beside me in a tree-lined lakeside parking lot. He said, “Hi, Joey. What’s shakin’?” And he let go with one of his favorite absurd rhetorical one-liners. Rolled off his tongue like poetry: “If a chicken and a half laid an egg and a half in a day and a half, how long would it take a monkey with a wooden leg to kick the seeds out of a watermelon?” Then he smiled his stellar smile and gave a chuckle – you know the one. Irresistible. Then I woke to my morning alarm; grinning. Thanks for every single laugh, Uncle Jerry.
