Inge W. Johnson, a resident of Strongsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2021 at her home at Vitalia Senior Residences.
Inge was born on December 19, 1930 in Evanston, Illinois to Franz and Anne (Bernhard) Weiss. She attended Main South High School in Park Ridge. After high school, Inge attended Northwestern University, where she graduated with a degree in music performance (voice) with a specialization in classical music. While at Northwestern, Inge studied abroad for three years at the prestigious Vienna Music Academy in Austria. She then attended the University of Illinois earning a Master’s Degree in music. After college, Inge became a music professor at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, teaching students the performance of classical music.
Inge married Rodger Johnson on September 9, 1961. They settled in Park Ridge to raise their family and lived there until 1980, when relocation to Lancaster, Ohio was necessary for Rodger’s job. After retirement, Rodger and Inge moved to Strongsville to be closer to family and to help raise their grandchildren, something they did remarkably well.
Inge enjoyed going to restaurants, reading books, cross-stitching, traveling and spending time with her family. She took amazing care of Rodger until his death in 2015. Afterwards she stayed strong and productive and was a true matriarch. She leaves behind her brother Ralph Weiss, sons Scott (Karen) and Brian (Pamela), her grandchildren Ben, Andy, Brandon, Dylan and Kristin as well as many nieces/nephews with special mention to Eric and Ellen Weiss for the loving care they helped provide over the years.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers and medical team members who provided extraordinary care to Inge including Joann Danzey from Bridgewater, the wonderful staff at Vitalia Senior Residences and Cypress Hospice, and the exceptional team from Cardiovascular Medicine Associates. Private services were held at Jardine Funeral Home with assistance from Cleveland Cremation. At a later date, a celebration of life will be held for Inge and Rodger in Chicago.
