Lifelong Cleveland resident James (Jim) Paul Sabanos died May 23, 2018 at University Hospital at the age of 72. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in December 1945 to John and Mary Sabanos (originally from Slovakia), Jim was a veteran of the Vietnam War earning him a National Defense Service Medal and distinction as a Marksman. He later worked as an electrician for Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland where he spent some time as a union leader. Jim graduated from Holy Name High School. He was an avid reader and a generous donor to a variety of local and national causes including St. Jude’s, Cleveland Food Bank, Animal Protection League and Alzheimer’s Research. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Sabanos. He is survived by his sister, Sally Truax, 6 nieces and nephews, and 13 grand-nieces and nephews. A military funeral service will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio on Friday, June 15th at 12:30 pm.
