Judith Ann Dommermuth (née Dague), known as Judy to friends and as Jude to very old friends, died at home in her sleep of brain cancer on the morning of April 24, 2020, just six days shy of her 69th birthday. She was born in Buffalo, New York, and died in Parma, Ohio, with many fondly remembered homes in between.

She met George William Dommermuth, known as Bill to friends and as Domm to very old friends, in their hometown of Valparaiso, Indiana in 1969, and married him in 1971. Judy is survived by her husband, who loved her beyond words, and by her three lucky children: Christopher Brady Dommermuth, Joshua David Dommermuth, and Amanda Beth Sherman. She was preceded in death by brother Ed Dague and daughter Sara Joy Dommermuth. She is also survived by three grandchildren, KD Dommermuth, Lukas James Sherman, and Isaak William Sherman, and by two brothers, Jim Dague and Larry Dague. Lastly, she is survived by the partners – Shelley Munnell (Brady), Jennifer Hopkinson (Joshua), Mark Sherman (Amanda), and Cary Barkett (KD) – and countless friends of her kids and grandkids, to whom she was always fiercely and tirelessly Mom or Nana.

Judy wanted no funeral or service, and she would have loved for you to donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital instead of sending gifts or flowers.

  5. Judy and Dave Hopkinson says:

Judy was a gentle and caring person, and we are so sorry for the loss her family and friends are bearing. We know that her kindness lives on in them, and will help them care for each other. There is so much to be thankful for when a life has brought so much love to the world. We are happy to abide by her thoughtful request to send donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
All of us will leave this world one day and we can only hope to do it with generosity and humor the way Judy showed us.
