November 11, 1965 – September 11, 2024.
Larry Alter, 58 of Shalersville, OH. Born in Johnstown PA., an esteemed army veteran, and a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family on September 11th. His life was a testament to the joy he found in the simple pleasures of existence. As a dedicated drywall worker, Larry’s skill and hard work were matched only by the depth of his affection for those around him.
Larry’s heart found its greatest happiness in the simple, cherished moments spent with family. He delighted in enjoying a good bonfire while camping, poking on his grandchildren, revving up his motorcycle for adventures, and cooking hearty meals for the ones he loved, coining the term “if you leave here hungry, it’s your own fault”. His love for classic rock and country music filled every gathering with joy and silly dance moves, reflecting his passion for living life to the fullest.
Larry’s spirit was one of boundless generosity and a zest for life. His laughter, his stories, and his presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the countless memories he created with those that he loved. We find comfort in knowing that his final moments were surrounded by family, and his spirit will forever be a guiding light in our hearts.
Larry is deeply missed by wife Carol, daughters Jodi (Kebin), Lizbeth (Adam) and Taylor (Alex), Grandchildren Thomas, Noah, Salara and Cooper, Skylynn and Harmony, Rusty and Rufus and Luna. Mother-in-law Betty. Step-Mother Debbie. Siblings Laurie (Ed), Patti (Brian), Donnie, Jackie (Dale), Diana (John), Ed, Niomi, Robert (Brianna), and Holly (Ricky). Along with multiple cousins, nieces and nephews and many others he considered family.
Larry is preceded in death by father Larry Sr., mother Peggy, step-fathers Robert and Don Sr., father in law Jerry, sisters Donna A., Kim and Donna S., nephew Trenton and niece Tiffany.
