LaVerne (née Lewis) Pistor, loving wife, mother and  (great) grandmother passed away at the age of 81 on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.

LaVerne was born on March 10, 1939 in Royrader, Kentucky to McCoy and Grace (née Lane) Lewis. LaVerne grew up in Cincinnati where she graduated from Colerain High School in 1957. She then attended Southern Ohio business college, where she met the love of her life, Bill. She married William “Bill” Pistor on August 2, 1958. Together, they raised three sons, Rick, Ron, and Randy and opened their home to Michael, Susan, and Robert Hudgins.

LaVerne, who was loved deeply by all who knew her, was known for her quick wit, kind heart, fun soul, infectious laugh and unprecedented back tickles. LaVerne’s hospitable heart welcomed all without judgment. Anyone who spent time with LaVerne, had bellyaches from laughing and knew the definition of ‘harken.’ She bowled for many years on the Medina Women’s Bowling League where she made lifelong friends who also enjoyed playing bingo, getting breakfast and gal pallin’ around town. She loved coloring with the kids, playing scrabble, beating anyone in arm-wrestling, and made the best sun tea and cream of wheat around.

Throughout her life, she courageously battled leukemia, stroke, brain surgery and Alzheimer’s.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her father, McCoy, her mother, Grace, her sister, Betty and adoptived daughter Susan (née Hudgins) Spears. She is survived by her brother Kenneth Lewis, husband Bill, their three children, Rick (Julie), Ron (Megan), Randy (Misty), and her grandchildren Michael (Alex) Carl, Casey (Nick) Vinez, Brittney (Ben) Weinerman, Kyle Pistor, Sean Hudgins, Ryan Pistor, Deven Pistor, Alex (Jared) Meador, Tori Pistor and great-grandchildren Haidyn, Luke, Sebastian, Finnegan, Riley, and Savannah.

In lieu of flowers, donations can me made in memory of LaVerne to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or St. Jude’s.

This world has lost one of the most beautiful souls even to grace this earth. My heart breaks for the Pistor family. May you all find peace and comfort.

  2. Adrian Lock says:

LaVerne was such a huge part of my childhood as one of the moms in our small street that embraced us foreigners when we moved in. So many great memories of her big smile and sharp wit. Deepest condolences to Bill, her boys, and the rest of her great family.
