Norma M. Moorman (nee Jansen) age 94 passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Aloysius & Aurellia Isaac. Norma was a devoted wife of 49 years to the late William. A loving mother to Philip, deceased (Cheryl), Daniel (Sally), Michael, deceased, Patricia Bailey, Joan Krych (Donald), AnnMarie Shelton, Geoffrey (Joyce), Roberta ”Robin” Sekerak (David), Christopher (Beth), Gayle Murad, Mathew (Cheryl) and Lee; aunt, great aunt, great great aunt, grandmother and great grandmother and friend to many.
Norma was the last sibling of the Jansen family, William (Amy), Sr. Bernadine Jansen, HHM (Blue Nun), Charlotte (Jack), Eileen (Andy), Claire (Chuck), Albert (Jackie), Elmer.
Raised as a Catholic and enriched by her sister Sr. Bernadine, influenced Norma while in the Holy Humility of Mary and shared memories of going to take trips to The Villa in PA. Norma graduated from The West Technical High School in Cleveland, Ohio with the class of June/1941. Her husband, William and all her children (except Patricia, who graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes) graduated from West Tech. She enjoyed working at Standard Oil as a Secretary to the President until becoming a full-time wife and mother. She then joined the Senior USA Olympics Bowling league with her girlfriends since childhood. Norma Participated in the Democratic Party in her ward (Dona Brady). She received an award for crime watch in her neighborhood. She was an avid book reader, even with poor eyesight she read up until her last 2 years. Norma instilled the Catholic Faith in all her children. She sat with her children through homework, school projects, pets, board games and cards. But most importantly, taught anyone the family card game “pinochle”. She even managed to get the “3000 pinochle” in her lifetime. Only to witness it as Dan, Lee and Robin also got it within the same time period.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a MEMORIAL MASS at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, 10205 Lorain Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10:30am, with a reception to follow the Memorial Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cleveland American Veterans Association, 1440 Rockside Rd. #118, Parma, Ohio 44134 or The West Tech Alumni Association.
Special thanks to Deb Daziel for sending routine cards to Mom making her laugh hard and brightening her day…especially after her stroke. Southwest Hospice nurse, Marie Sidol and nursing aide Terri for helping take care of Mom when assistance was needed at the home.
