Patricia Phares Wren, 72, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio passed away on Wednesday November 11, 2015.
Pat was born on October 28, 1943 to Charles Wilson Phares, Sr. and Virginia L. Carskadon (Phares) Milner in Elkins, West Virginia. She grew up in Garrettsville, Ohio along with her older brother Charles. Upon graduation from James A. Garfield High School she went on to Bowling Green State University, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts in American Studies. After college, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio and began teaching English at Patrick Henry Junior High School. She eventually transitioned to her true passion of writing, where she developed communications and publications for organizations such as the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and the Cleveland Clinic. And in 2001 she founded Wren & Associates, a multi-disciplinary communications firm.
She was a member of many Cleveland Area organizations and boards, including the Press Club of Cleveland and serving as President of the American Advertising Federation Cleveland. She was also an active member of Fairmount Presbyterian Church. She had a great love of the arts and spent many days walking and talking with her children and grandchildren in the Cleveland Museum of Art, instilling in them a similar passion. Her lifelong love of gardening, cooking, and music was also well known, and if she wasn’t hosting an impromptu evening of jazz and conversation, she could frequently be seen at various Cleveland Orchestra concerts.
She is survived by her two sons: Michael Carskadon Wren (wife Mary, and two children Henry and Fiona), and Peter Phares Wren (wife Cindia, and two children Adelaide and Ignatius); her brother Charles Wilson Phares, Jr. (wife JoAnn) and their two children Susan Holman Phares (her two children Hannah and Heather), and Charles Joseph Phares (wife Jennifer and three children Carly, Kate, and Ryan). In addition, she is survived by her beloved friend, Charles Skinner.
Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday November 21, 2015 at Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights.
