Rev. Elizabeth McGeehan Fox

Elizabeth Fox

Rev. Elizabeth McGeehan Fox, age 80, of South Euclid, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 11th, 2023 surrounded by her family.  She is survived by her husband Jim Fox, son the Rev. Tom Fox, daughter-in-law Diana Fox, daughter Leslie Swaim-Fox, and son-in-law Mark Swaim-Fox. She is also survived by her sisters Peggy Barker and Barbara McGeehan. Her brother Patrick McGeehan and her parents Thomas and Jeannette McGeehan preceded her in death.  She will be missed by her grandchildren Abbey Fox, Anna Fox, and James Fox, Jordan Swaim-Fox (Sarah Lentz) and Callan Swaim-Fox.

Elizabeth was born on July 4,1943 in Chester, Pennsylvania to her beloved parents, Tom and Jean McGeehan. She met the love of her life, Jim Fox, as a sophomore at Akron Central School in Akron, New York.  They dated for four years, and were married in 1963. In their 60 years of marriage they supported each other through good times and bad. They challenged each other to grow, and they each became better people because of it.

Elizabeth raised her two children, Tom and Leslie, with a sense of wonder and joy. She passed on her strong faith (both have careers in ministry), and showered them with love, affection, and grace. Elizabeth (Mom Mom) loved being a grandmother. She filled her grandchildren’s childhoods with laughter, magic and fun. Through the years she was always their biggest fan at concerts, games and plays. Her ability to build strong relationships with each of her children and grandchildren helped them through the changes in their lives.

Elizabeth lived a life of service to others.  She was active in the church and in the community. When she was in her late thirties she felt called to become a Pastor. It was a nine year journey that culminated with her ordination in 1991. As a pastor she served Christ faithfully for 13 years at Greenford Lutheran Church, in Greenford, Ohio.

Elizabeth loved with all her heart, served with all her strength, and inspired all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 2nd at 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am.  A light lunch will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Facing History and Ourselves, online at give.facinghistory.org
