Robert “Bert” Baylers

Robert Baylers passed away peacefully at Park East Rehabilitation Center on September 22, 2011. Robert was born August 8, 1930, in Portland, Alabama, to Caledonia and Richard Baylers, who both preceded him in death. He was the widower of Beulah M. Baylers, who preceded him in death in 1989. Mr. Baylers was a past member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. He attended Cleveland Public Schools, and returned to school to earn his college degree at the age of sixty-six years old. Robert was a Korean War veteran, after serving in both the U.S. Army and Air force. Robert retired from his career as a contractor and electrician, and continued pursuing his interests, including reading, religious study, and exercise. Robert was an avid reader, and read the Bible more than fifty-six times.

It was never a secret that Robert’s personal relationship with Alcoholics Anonymous was both deep and profound. He was a co-founding member of The Eastside Old Timers, A Place To Be, Together We Can and Calvary Chapter AA self help groups. These were Alcoholics Anonymous self-help groups.  Robert reached his forty-fourth year in sobriety in August 2011.

He was preceded in death by Michael and Mark Baylers (sons). Surviving is his son Richard (Twiligh), Kimberly, and Lesley (daughters). He is also survived by six grandchildren, and a host of Alcoholic Anonymous friends.
