RobertFranchinoJr

Robert Franchino Jr of Brunswick Hills passed away January 10, 2012. Loving husband of Rebecca (nee Shoopman). Proud father of Robert III and Vincent. Cherished son of Irene Ruth and Robert Franchino Sr. Robert was born November 26, 1963 in San Pedro, CA. Robert met Becki when he was 17. Becki was a volunteer candy striper at Sharp Cabrillo Hospital. They married 4 years after they met and spend 26 unseparated years together. Robert spent 12 happy years as a plant manager at copper and brass sales in Gresham, OR. He loved gardening. People would stop in front of their home and take Easter pictures with the most amazing backdrops of Robert’s front yard. He was passionate about his family, cooking and building models of ww2 airplanes and tanks. Robert is survived by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

We would love to hear your favorite memories of Robert. If you could take just a few minutes and share a story in the guest book it would mean a lot to all of us. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.

  1. Ernie Franchino says:

Robert lived his life filled with love.He was a “selfmade ” man, that accomplished so much when it came to his life. The love he had for his wife,Becky was a real love story. She,and the boys were his world.I am so proud of what we shared, the passion for music, model building, and for the countless number of conversations. He knew he could not go’till his family was taken care of,and although he fought each illness, this time he knew God was calling him home.Your voice is silent now,but the memories will always be heard in my heart.Eachday there will be a “Robert” memorey flled with laughter, music, and love. God Bless you, your brother”Smokes”

I dedicate this to you TIO!
A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands put to rest; God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the “BEST”!!
Dont grieve for me, for now I’m free. I followed the path God laid, you see. Be not burdened with time of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee. God wanted me now; he set me free!!

  3. Pamela Sue Mills says:

When Robert was a teenager, living in Ocean Beach, his Uncle Jimmy worked nights and Robert would come over our home and visit me. Sometimes he would bring a friend and introduce me, as his Aunt, although one time his friend didn’t believe him, we were probably 11 years difference in age! We had some great long talks and laughs, I thought he was a great guy. I remember visiting with him at his Grandma Franchino’s funeral and he told me he always wanted to live with Uncle Jimmy and me, I told him, he should have told us, he would have been more than welcome, I thought the world of him. Through the years, Becky would always send me a Christmas card, letter, picture and note keeping me updated with the family. I was very proud of Robert’s accomplishments and the wonderful family man he came to be. When he was moving from Oregon to the East, we had a great long conversation on the phone, more laughs and moments. I remember his wedding day and how happy he was marrying his love and soulmate. I was very sadden this last illness took him from his family. Some people leave footprints on your heart and Robert was one of those people, he certainly made a difference in this world and to me. To Becky and sons, all my love and remember all the good times and moments, Robert will be with you always in spirit. Much love and God Bless, Aunt Pam

  4. Cathy Allen says:

A short, quick memory of my favorite nephew-in-law, to give anyone who reads it a laugh: I have never been “cool” a day in my life. I always aspired to be thought of as “cool,” but… Oh well! Anyway, many years ago, Robert told Becky that I was a “Cool Aunt,” and Becky told me. I just LOVED it! Thanks for the happy memory, Robert; you were pretty “cool” yourself, and I love you and I will never forget you!

  5. Vicky, Don, Danny and Joey says:

It was our pleasure that we got to know Robert and his wise and funny stories. He was kind, caring and always thinking of others. I know this battle with his health was so hard and everytime I would see him, he would ask me how I was doing with my health problems? Again- not being selfish. He was like a 2nd dad to our son Danny and they had MANY great times together! He did his job here on earth being a great husband, dad, brother, uncle, and friend to many! It was our pleasure and Blessing to have him in our lives! Robert you are not suffring anymore and I know you are with Our Savior and Lord and pain-free! To Becky, Robby, Vincent and all those who hearts he’s touch- stay strong, never forget the wonderful memories you have and cherish life! We love you Robert and you will be missed but NEVER forgotten. Lifting prayers for the you all this week as you rememeber Robert. Love Always, Vicky, Donovan, Danny & Joey Brunswick, OHIO

Becky, althought we did not know Robert for a long time, he seemed to be a very loving and caring husband and father. Cherish your memories with him because they will stay in your heart forever and they will help to ease your pain. We never have enough time with our loved ones, but our love and memories can never be wiped away like our tears. I pray that God will watch over you and your family during these difficult days and give you strength to carry on.

I have only really met Robert about three years ago. I go to my Aunt&Uncle’s house evey summer in Ohio which is conviently located across the street from Robert&Becky’s house. I remember the nights where we go over and just have a nice family dinner that would last till about 1:00 to 2:30! I love the countless memories I have from the past few summers getting to know Robert, Becky, and Vince! I remember one summer where I would see Robert gardening his plants. (That man really loved to garden.) I also remember that I would just sit on his porch by him a few times and he would give me great advice! I also remember he told my where my name came from he told me that I was named after a singer named Taylor Dayne. Everytime I would see him for the rest of the summer called me that. I thought it was great. He will always be remembered by all of us! I love him and miss him! Thank you for all those great memories Robert!

Wow, what a blessed and loved man my cousin Robert was. As Nick said he lived with us for a short time when we were young. I was in 7th grade. Every day I would return home from school and cut across the front yard passing the front windows and before I reached the door I would hear a voice sing out snoopy… snoopy…snoopy come home:) It was Robert greeting me so lovingly (more like teasing me to death)especially embarrassing when a friend was with me. Snoopy or “Snoops” as he often would say was his nickname for me. I was’nt so sure about it then but as an adult I secretly loved it:) Over the past four years my family and his have become so very close and he has touched everyone of our lives and hearts in a different way. We will miss you Robert, but we are so relieved that you are no longer suffering and are now with GOD… (you lucky dog)
    love you, Snoops

Robert lived with us for about a year when I was a kid. We had a great time. He always protected us and there were always tons of stories and adventures. We walked to 7-Eleven and played video games.
I almost forgot about the models he used to build. He was so good at that. He built me a replica F-14 Tomcat fighter; it was awesome! I remember a picture he brought of a scene he did for a hobby store; tanks, soldiers, smoke – all very precise and very detailed.
He was such a great guy! Always laughing and having a good time. I looked up to him and was proud to call him my big Cousin. Robert, you will be missed! I love you man!

    To my “Little Brother Rob”,
You lived life your way with a laugh & a smile. You fought to live cheating death every chance you had & you were proud of that. Dying was not an option unless you said so. God must have made you quite an offer in order for you to say “yes it is time.”
You gave to your boys a father they could be proud of & a husband that knew only love & devotion.
Today I drove by some of the old car lots in West Covina, remembering the day I took you with me just to test drive diffrent cars knowing that I was not going to buy one. I remember how much you enjoyed that day. I will keep my promise & always be there for Becky & the boys. I may have not been the best brother, but I sure the hell will be the best Uncle.
Alicia,Gilbert & my grandkids will know who thier Tio Robert is.
You are now in Gods hands so enjoy. So take care little brother. Enjoy haven the same way you enjoyed your life here with a laugh & a smile.
You wil always be in both Rosann & my heart forever.

Hello everyone! I post this message today with the HONOR to say this is one of my favorite UNCLE’s. Tio you will forever be in my heart! I miss you sooooooooooo much! God received a special ANGEL when he called for you and I know others wont ever understand why U? The tears fall from my face not because I am sad its because U filled my heart with BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES of laughter and LOVE. I WILL FOREVER be your PIEFACE! I remember Tio when I was a little girl it was Christmas Day and my parents woke up my sister, brother and myself cause there was this man in the house name Santa Claus. I remember being sooo excited cause who as a little kid get to actually see Santa and I remember getting my presents from his bag and Santa not saying a word to us. Then I happen to look down at Santa’s shoes and said to myself “HEY SANTA HAS THE SAME SHOES AS MY TIO ROBERT” very interesting! Then as I got older I remember talking to my mom about when Santa came to visit us and the truth came out that it was my Tio! I couldnt ask for a better looking Santa…. Thanks for the special childhood memory! This MAN was full of life and love. He knew how to make a negative situation to a positive one and his words were very powerful. Another memory I have of this wonderful MAN is I had a boyfriend and I introduced him to my Tio as my friend and my Tio would always tell me thats not your friend thats your boyfriend and I would always say “No, he is just my friend”. So my Tio would tease me and sing that song to me by BIZ MARKIE “So you say he’s just a friend” and I would just laugh it off. Well Tio I am proud to say that,… THAT FRIEND is officially my husband 12 years strong. He is a brave man to marry me not once BUT twice….. I promise to stay strong but i don’t promise not to cry. I cry an ocean for you filled with nothing but laughter and memories and most of all you drowned me with nothing BUT LOVE!!!! FOREVER YOUR PIEFACE!! XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
