Robert “Bob” Masoni passed away June 15th at the age of 91. His wife, Margaret, passed away in 2011 and they did not have children. He is survived by his half-brother and guardian, Carl Zipfel, Carl’s two sons, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Margaret’s nephew, Ken Sinchak, served as Bob’s joint guardian and has two adult daughters.
Bob was a WWII vet who served in Germany at the close of the war. He has received care over the last six years by excellent and caring nurses provided through the Veteran’s Administration. He lived at home until recently, breaking his hip and requiring round-the-clock attention at Strongsville’s excellent Altenheim Nursing Center.
Bob Masoni had a long career in Industrial Engineering , with many years at Van Dorn in Strongsville and Invacare in Elyria. Bob also participated in several family ventures initiated by his uncle John Masoni, including developing Johnson’s Island. He resided in Meadowood/Strongsville for forty years making many friends among neighbors while focusing on home ownership, travelling throughout the United States and Canada, cheering the Browns, Indians and Cavs and collecting their sports memorabilia.
Bob in his humble way wished a quiet remembrance of his life. A small Memorial Mass will be held on June 26 at St. Joseph Church, where he and Margaret had been parishioners. Please celebrate a memory of Bob, and consider a contribution to a charity of your choice.
