On Monday, October 4th, 2021, Sara Lou (nee Volz) Trowbridge of Olmsted Falls, OH beloved wife and mother of five children, peacefully passed away surrounded by family at the age of 85.
Sara was born on April 13th, 1936 to Russell and Elizabeth (nee Johnson) Volz in Lakewood, OH. She graduated from Berea High School in 1954 and received her nursing degree from Lakewood Hospital. Sara would go on to enjoy a successful nursing career for sixty years. On June 8th, 1957 Sara married William “Bill” Douglas Trowbridge Sr. and settled in Olmsted Falls where they raised four sons and a daughter: William Jr., Russell, Timothy, Penny and Neil.
During the fifty-eight years that they have called Olmsted Falls home Sara and Bill were awarded the very first “Citizens of the Year” award for their devotion to the Olmsted Falls school district and music association. Sara would then continue her love and devotion in her later years to St. Mary of the Falls Catholic Church as a lector and serving on the Young at Hearts Committee for many years. She also loved family parties, sewing and gardening.
Sara is preceded in death by her parents Russell and Elizabeth Volz. She is survived by her five children: William Jr. (Cindy), Russell (Joyce), Timothy (Shari), Penny (Tom) Conway, and Neil. Her Grandchildren: Kristin (Terry), Bradley (Catlyn), Danielle (Jim), Lindsay (Ken), Mike (Sally), Benjamin (Rachel), Joseph, Jack, Matthew, Daniel, Stephen, Mary Therese, and Colette. 8 Great Grandchildren. Sister Sandra (Karl) Seidowski. Sister-in-Law Diane Brunie (Jack-deceased). Many other dear family and friends.
On October 16th, 2021, the Visitation and Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Falls Catholic Church in Olmsted Falls, OH. Sara’s family will receive visitors starting at 10am in the church vestibule, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, and interment at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery will immediately follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you please send donations to the American Red Cross.
