Stanley J. Bolenski, age 96 of Cleveland, Ohio passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday, April 10th, 2022. He was born December 8, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph and Eva (nee Garda) Bolenski.

Part of the Greatest Generation, Stanley was a WWII veteran, he served in the Navy’s Armed Guard, helping to man the guns on Merchant ships that transported men and critical supplies to battlefields abroad. Ships he served on include: SS HH Raymond, SS Benjamin H. Brewster, and the USS Humphrey (DD236).

After retiring from Lincoln Electric, Stanley became an active member of Roosevelt Post 58 P.L.A.V. (Tremont’s Neighborhood Veteran’s Club). He was honored by being knighted by dignitaries of the Polish Legion in Cleveland. He was also a member of the Cleveland Chapter of the U.S. Navy Armed Guard WWII Veterans Association. Stanley took great joy in the monthly breakfast meetings with members.

Stanley was preceded in death by his beloved wife Olga (née Berezowsky), loving son Alan, parents Joseph and Eva (née Garda), siblings Walter, Josephine (née Nemyo), Katherine (née Shabra), and son-in-law James Bloam. He is survived by his children, Janet (nee Bloam), Gail (née Workman), David, and Mark. Grandchildren, Jenn, Todd (Lauren), Jill, Nicole, Jeffrey, Paige, Allison, and Jennifer. Great Grandchildren, Ethan, Cecelia, Isabella, Andrew, Emma, Olivia, Jackson, Arielle, Owen, Jacob and a plethora of nieces, nephews, and friends. Stanley’s (Sonny) utmost devotion was to his family first and his gregorious loving spirit will truly be missed by all.

A celebration of Stanley’s life will be held at a later date.

    Sonny was a class act. Taught me all about the Armed Guard which I never knew about and I was in the Navy..RIP brother

    So wonderful working with you both the last several months to make Stanley as comfortable as possible. You took amazing care of your dad/grandfather in your home.
    It was a pleasure to meet him and be a part of his end of life care. The obituary is beautiful! He is with his love now and free of pain.
