Walter E. Niswonger, 91, passed away peacefully at home February 10, 2018. A celebration in his honor will take place in the Spring. Walter took great pride in his family and his WWII Naval service.
Walter proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served aboard the USS Florence Nightingale and piloted Amphibian landing crafts at Normandy, France and Utah Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra J. Niswonger (née White); cherished father of Marta (Thomas) Niswonger, Sharla Niswonger, Andrea Niswonger-Weisman and Walter E. Niswonger II; dearest grandpa to Joey (Robert) Wellman, Michael Weisman, Amanda Weisman and Danna Niswonger; great-grandfather “Papa” of Sam, Julia, Selena and Paige.
