Walter Lee Key “Ray”, 70, of Medina, Ohio, was called home to Jesus on March 22nd, 2023, surrounded by the infinite love and warmth of his family.
Ray was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Walter Lee and Evelyn Maureen (nee Standifer) on November 29th, 1952. He grew up in Cleveland’s Collinwood neighborhood. During his life he lived throughout Cleveland and Parma Heights before settling in Medina. He came to Medina to live with his God Daughter Michelle (nee Key), Nicholas and Jackson Doran, who loved and cherished him every moment of his final years.
Ray enjoyed a lifetime of finding many trinkets and treasures to share with all his loved ones. He relished in the joys and happiness he could bring others. His Christian faith was an essential part of his life and shared this faith with all. He was truly a man of Christ. His famous farewell phrase was “Peace, Love and Mercy” always followed by the best embrace. He was a kind and thoughtful soul who will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched.
Ray is survived by his brothers Billy, Ronnie (late Audrey), Kevin, Jeffrey (Nancy); his sister Evelyn “Dolly”; his beloved friend Angela “Dee”; countless loving cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of long time friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 29th, 2023, at 2pm and a sky lantern memorial will be held at 8pm to conclude. Donations for service expenses will be received at the celebration of life in lieu of flowers.
