William “Willie” Melendez, 84, peacefully passed away on January 6, 2015 after a battle with declining health. Willie was a loving husband to Carmen for over thirty years and father to Javier Melendez of Orlando FL., Orlando Melendez (Darla) of Lakewood OH and Vivian Davis (Scott) of Atlanta GA. Step-father to Dennis Acevedo (Joann) of Strongsville OH, Gil Acevedo (Tammy) of Brunswick OH, Vanessa Thomasetti (Harry) of Wooster OH, Sidy Dufinetz (Don) of Fishers IN and Maritza Condeni(Joe) of Strongsville OH. He was a loving grandfather of 23 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Monserrate (Montalvo) Melendez, his brothers, Annibal, Reynaldo and Ivan, his sisters, Antonia, Emmelinda and Gloria and his son William Melendez Jr. Willie was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Ohio in 1950. He worked for Fruehauf Trailer Co. in Avon Lake and then Ford until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, watching the Cleveland Indians, Wheel of Fortune and gambling in Las Vegas. A memorial service will be held at St. Ambrose Church, 923 Pearl Road, Brunswick, Ohio on Saturday January 10, 2015. Family and friends will be received starting at 10:00 a.m and the memorial service will start promptly at 11:00 a.m.
